In 1988, Professor Adamson of Lund University in Sweden and Dr. Wolfgang Feist of Germany first proposed the concept of passive house. Due to the energy-efficient, low-carbon and environmentally friendly nature of “passive house”, the EU has clearly stated that by 2020, all new buildings in member countries will be built using passive housing technology systems.
Passive house looks like no difference from ordinary buildings, but its design concept, building materials and technology are very advanced. Passive house refers to the extremely low-energy buildings with a sealed structure, the use of insulated building components on the building materials, which does not require traditional heating and cooling systems, and can maintain the comfortable temperature of the human body in all four seasons.
In 1996, the Passive House Institute (PHI), founded by Professor Wolfgang Feist, is committed to solving the impact of climate change by improving building energy efficiency. It is now the world's top research institution in the field of passive house. In addition to passive house-related training and professional certification, PHI continues to develop passive house around the world through rigorous certification of passive house and building components, as well as the development of passive house planning and design packages. Since its foundation, PHI has published countless research results in various fields of passive house construction.
China Zhong An Peace Cooperates with PHI to Push Forward “Chinese Passive House”

Due to the special requirements of design and construction linkage for passive house, it is necessary to explore a quality management system that matches the technology and a new consortium model that adapts to international competition. Therefore, China Zhong An Peace and Jianxue Architecture and Engineering Design Institute Co., Ltd., Shougang Group, Schoeberl and Poell Bauphysik Forschungs GmbH and other professional institutions jointly set up a project implementation consortium to guarantee the passive house project’s successful delivery. In addition, China Zhong An Peace also hired Mr. David Michulek, a world-class expert in passive ultra-low-energy buildings, as our chief engineer of passive house.
In June 2015, the members of the consortium successfully completed the office building and apartment building project of Xinhua Curtain Wall Co., Ltd. in Zhuozhou, which is the only passive building that can monitor the real-time building energy consumption in China.
In the face of the fact that lack of domestic “passive house” talent and lack of knowledge reserves, China Zhong An Peace’s first passive architect and consultant training course started in Beijing in November 2016, David • Michulek, PHI certified international passive architect and trainer and Tian Shanming, chief engineer of Jianxue Architecture and Engineering Design Institute Co., Ltd., gave the speech and delivered the first batch of local talents through systematic theoretical study and case reference.
