The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the China Association of Social Workers (CASW), and China ZhongAn Peace Holding Company(CZAP) held a collaborative exchange and discussion meeting in Beijing on August 30th.
Mr. Peng Zhengyou, representative of UNIDO “Cradle to Cradle” project, Chen Cungen, President of CASW, Zhou Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of CASW, Mr. Zhang Yang, Chairman of CZAP, and Ms. Tan Peis, Vice President of the European-China Association for the Promotion of Environment and Development (ECED), attended the event.
The theme of the meeting revolved around "Exploration and Cooperation in Social Governance based on Circular Economic Development." Discussions encompassed topics such as the "Cradle-to-Cradle" philosophy and projects, the establishment of ESG evaluation systems, cooperation on rural revitalization pilot projects, and CZAP comprehensive solutions. During the discussions, consensus on collaboration was achieved.
During the meeting, Mr. Peng Zhengyou, gave a key introduction to the function, role, performance of UNIDO in United Nations agencies and "cradle to cradle" project. He pointed out that the paradigm, theory, and methodology of "cradle to cradle" have formed relatively mature systems in the West, especially in the United States and Europe, and have accumulated rich practical experience and achievements. C2C now is a guiding tool for enterprise, regional and national governance, especially environmental governance, is also the core theory guiding the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the West. At present, UNIDO is cooperating with the Chinese government to assist China in drawing on the paradigm, theory, methodology, and practical experience and achievements of "cradle to cradle", in order to enrich the innovative, systematic, international, open, and inclusive nature of China's ecological civilization theory and practice. Mr. Peng Zhengyou highly praises the outstanding work done by CASW and CZAP in this related field, and looks forward to conducting extensive and effective cooperation on the aforementioned areas of common concern.
Mr. Chen Cungen, President of CASW, suggested close collaboration between the various specialized working committees of the association and UNIDO in multiple directions. These include establishing the "Dongying Model" based on the UNIDO Dongying project to enhance social governance; constructing a comprehensive ESG evaluation system that aligns with both Chinese characteristics and international standards based on the "Cradle-to-Cradle" philosophy; engaging in specific cooperation with UNIDO and CZAP in the development of 160 key counties for rural revitalization, encouraging and supporting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Mr. Zhang Yang, Chairman of CZAP, in conjunction with "rural revitalization", elaborated on the theoretical framework of the progressive integration of "natural ecological security, economic ecological security, and social ecological security" actively advocated by CZAP. He also proposed a plan based on agricultural technology innovation to drive the shaping of industrial ecology, promote localized employment, and ultimately achieve the reconstruction of rural social ecology. Zhang Yang stressed the importance of vocational education, social guidance, counseling, and assistance in the context of the evolving new technologies and business models, all of which play a crucial role in social governance. CZAP committed to actively contributing as a bridge and leveraging its corporate strength in the trilateral cooperation.
